The new sign is up! Here are a few photos. It still needs some coats of epoxy paint and some more rocks around the other leg. It is made of 4" X 6" X 1/4" tubing - it is about three feet in rock with a #7 rebar inside each tube and grouted solid to the top. It should stop anything up to a dump truck! There's also going to be a ridge cap on top. Then we will be going forward with another sign below that for general information (Rrad map, meeting times, etc.)
Jake Pickett, Hank Schultz, Kevin Belcher, Rich Berner and Jim Tartar have been working on it so far. The new sign will be almost exactly the same as the old one since we had Steve Martin (who is the owner of Hilo Sign) do the work again and he is also a resident of Fern Acres. Weldin Sheldon Lehman provided the crane truck and gave us a little discount on labor for himself and Joe.
