Where in the World is Fern Acres ??
Anyone looking for Fern Acres will need to head out of Hilo towards Volcano. You will pass Kea`au and Kurtistown. About a mile past the 13 mile marker you will see a sign with 'Kulani 17' pointing to the right. That is North Kulani Rd and it's 17 miles to the prison. You will need to turn left onto South Kulani Rd. If you are coming from the Kona side, you will pass through the small, sleepy town of Mountain View (of which we are a part) and turn right onto South Kulani Road just a few hundred feet past the Mountain View Elementary School & Library. Go about one mile to the stop sign and turn right on to Puhala and you are in Fern Acres.
Note: If you are looking in the Verizon phone book they have us listed on page 18 as Crescent Acres although we have been Fern Acres since 1967. We are still trying to get them straightened out.
Our sign has been missing for a while and we plan to have our new one up soon in a spot where it will not be removed by vehicles who miss making the turn on to Puhala as has happened too many times now.
If you are planning to come to find your property, please call the office ahead of time and ask for directions to your lot. We can tell you where your lot is located in relation to the power poles if you will give us your lot number.
