Cluster Boxes

US mail service to Fern Acres residents continues to be a long term goal of the FACA Board. However, cluster boxes are presently on long term hold.  The USPS declines to consider them at this time. This is due in part to the present economic situation in the US in general and the financial status of the USPS in particular. Providing cluster boxes to Fern Acres may require costly policy changes for the Mountain View Post Office since it would mean providing service to other subdivisions as well. At a minimum, they will need to expand the present Mountain View Post Office facility or move to a larger one. In addition they will likely need to hire more rural carriers and procure additional vehicles. FACA will continue to explore all avenues to advocate for rural mail service to its members.
