Annual Meeting / Picnic, July 18, 2010

Call To Order 11:56 a.m.

President's Report: Frank opened the Annual Meeting with an introduction of the Officers of the Board and other Community members. He offered Mahalo to Bob Jacobson in attendance. He thanks all who make Fern Acres such an incredible place to live!

Frank summarized progress on Fire House. He offered Mahalo to Shelly Sherman for all her efforts in coordinating work crews. Shelly introduced all present who worked on the Fire House or provided services. Mahalo nui loa ka kou!Frank introduced our Fire Chief, Gene Buscher, who gave a brief informational talk and asked for volunteers to join the FACA Volunteer Fire Department. We now have two fire trucks! Gene brought our new, smaller, heavy duty off-road fire truck for all to see.
Shelly gave a report on our “Sale-A-Bration/ Second Saturday events, which have been very successful in raising funds. Thus far, approximately $1,000.00 has been raised after expenses to go towards the Fire House completion! Mahalo Shelly!

Patti Pinto gave a report on the Friends of Puna's Future, and the new FACA web site: fernacres.org.
Bob Jacobson introduced Brittany Smart, Candidate for district 6 Council. Brittany spoke briefly with the crowd and invited input.

Mahalos to Mike and Roy Kailili and their work on the first bus stop at Lehua and Puhala! Our keiki no longer have to stand in the rain to catch bus in the morning!

Frank gave the Road Report on upcoming paving project for Lehua and Anthurium. Call for volunteers to direct traffic around the paving crew on July 20-21st.
